Adria Carney, M.D.
Adria Carney, M.D., is a board certified psychiatrist who has subspecialty training in both Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry and specializes in psychopharmacology and brief psychodynamic psychotherapy.
Dr. Carney graduated summa cum laude from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology. There, she received the titles of Nevada Regents Award Undergraduate of the Year and Biology Department Lab Instructor of the Year. Dr. Carney earned her medical doctorate from the University of Nevada School of Medicine during which she served as President for organizations such as the American Medical Student Association, the American Medical Woman’s Association, and Medical Students for Choice. She completed a residency in Psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where she served as Chief Resident and received the title of Outstanding Graduating Resident Award. While pursuing fellowships in both Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry, Dr. Carney served on the Medical Ethics Advisory Committee and founded a Telepsychiatry Clinic.
Taking a collaborative approach, Dr. Carney consults with guardians, therapists, primary care physicians, and if clinically indicated, religious/spiritual mentors and educators, to develop a thorough psychosocial educational assessment. Minors must be accompanied by a parent and/or legal guardian at their first appointment and are encouraged to bring any medical records, previous testing or assessments, and if applicable a copy of your child’s IEP or 504 plan. Family referrals of all ages are welcome.
